I created a survey for my wife

Nice one. But one question: Where do you scuba in Las Vegas, ScubaSteve?

    Ground clearance on lowered suspension

There are two places where ground clearance can rear its ugly head. Many driveways and drainage depressions are not engineered well and can gouge the front end. I have a LOT of trouble with that on my G8 and have many scrapes under the front airdam. You can avoid that most of the time by not...

Greddy Korea intakes and BOV for the 2.0T and 3.3T Stingers

Yeah, thanks, I'm a chemist, so I'm quite familiar with that. And I agree that the cooler the intake air temperatures the more theoretical power you may generate. There might be some theoretical advantage under race conditions to make a case for slightly cooler intake air, but the dyno test...

Greddy Korea intakes and BOV for the 2.0T and 3.3T Stingers

Interesting test on intake temperatures. Ultimately, the air temperature entering the intake is determined by the efficiency of the intercooler which is also a variable that depends on vehicle speed (and to some extend wind direction) and the air velocity moving across the cooling fins, and the...

Limited Slip Dif in the 2.0L?

OK. I didn't think the mechanical LSD was used on the AWD.

What do you use to wash your Kia Stinger?

I hand wash all my cars, never use a power wash. Soft fiber mitt and car soap from the same company that makes the wax I use (McGuires). Water does not remove the dirt well enough at car washes and you have to clay-bar the car before you wax it unless you hand-wash. My 13 year old GTO feels...

Limited Slip Dif in the 2.0L?

It was my understanding that AWD did not use LSD on the rear axle. Am I wrong? Makes a difference on the rear end lube used when changing it. Wish we had access to service manuals, but it's all online these days and proprietary.

Differences between AWD Eco, Comfort, and Sport modes

The computer, according to the Kia engineers, is capable of 20/80 to 50/50 on the AWD. When using Launch, you only get a quick whiff of wheel spin and then either the computer pulls back on power until the tires grip, OR the brakes are being applied to the wheels to prevent wheel spin. Don't...

Differences between AWD Eco, Comfort, and Sport modes

Torque vectoring means the computer will use wheel spin to determine how much power to allow to a wheel. If back tires are slipping then some of the power is sent to the front wheels and throttle is limited if all wheels are slipping (unless you turn traction control off to play around). If...

Differences between AWD Eco, Comfort, and Sport modes

I would think that the front/rear setting doesn't matter in the snow until there is slippage, in which case the computer will "torque vector" power to and away from where needed or not needed.

    2018 Buick Regal GS

Thanks. Both my Pontiacs were GM Holden in Australia. (Came with genuine kangaroo seat covers and wallaby hair in the grille from track testing.) [biggrin]

    2018 Buick Regal GS

Where are they building the Regal GS? If the Stinger hadn't shown up, that would have been a strong possibility. But I just got stung.....

Who plans on modding their Kia Stinger?

I don't care for white cars, but that one is sweeeet! [twothumb]

    Oil Catch Can or No?

If that was the first oil change, even after 3,000 miles it could be left over from assembly, especially since it looks very clean and is only on one side.

    Big Turbo Thread

I haven't really had time to drive the 3.3T because my car doesn't get here for 2 more weeks, but from a short test drive and from performance data from respected reviewers, it obvious that this engine has a lot of torque at lower RPMs and the computer seems to do a very good job of keeping the...

    Big Turbo Thread

The Stinger uses Rockwell twin spool turbos in the GT's. There are two inlets to the turbo, one from each of two of the 3 cylinders on each bank. (The 3rd cylinder is vented directly into the exhaust.) Twin spool turbine inlet wheels are "stepped" or graduated in diameter and each cylinder is...

Winter Tires, Gas, & Alternative Logos

I've never had Michelin summers. All tires lose grip with decreasing temperature. I'm not going to disagree with Michelin support (assuming the support person knew their tires) but if this is true, it is either true only for Michelin, or this is an industry trade secret that should be shared...

Who's experienced issues with the Lap 3 Uncle Chip?

I think the consensus was that the 91 octane setting on the Lap3 was where you wanted it with 93 octane fuel. Doesn't make sense but I think that's what people are doing. Time will tell about durability.

Winter Tires, Gas, & Alternative Logos

I have an AWD on order with the 19" performance tires. While I don't get much winter snow here (mostly freezing rain and ice), I did want the better grip on dry pavement of the performance tires. I bought a new Pontiac G8 GT in '08 with the big wheels and summer performance tires and I've...

Yes, I'm sure you couldn't write a check for that amount and take the car. Everything is advertised these days in terms of lease amounts and monthly payments. Worth checking out....
