    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

It's not the manufacturer, it's the dealership doing the mods.

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

Depends on what sensors throw codes. If you generate more power, there is more torque. If there is a torque reading on the LCD screen on the dash, then either that reading is a guesstimate based on some dumb pre-programmed values for the stock engine, OR it is going to show more torque due to...

FS Lujack Kia of the Quad Cities - The Midwest Premier Kia Dealer

MurlinatoR, I see the port for that GT2 was Tacoma, WA. How are these being shipped? I'm guessing by rail because of roads in the winter, then transport short haul? I also thought I saw some coming into New Orleans, LA.

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

I don't know. It depends on what is recorded. I'm a GM guy so I'm out of my ballpark on this one. Just passing along what I know about GM stuff. I'm guessing that some sensor somewhere would be showing an abnormal value. There is a torque reading on the dash, and I don't know where that...

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

No, there is a difference between the ECU controlling inputs vs. a simple recording function of what happened to the car prior to a malfunction. The recording function would have no control over anything, just watching sensor readings.

Noisy startup and ? solid lifters?

There was one comment somewhere that the 3.3 has solid lifters. Is that true? [???:)] Can't believe they would put those in a daily driver in these days of hydraulics....

I don't know enough about the system to be able to comment on TJH's post. One needs to know the sensors used in the entire system and what they are capable of reading. I don't own a service manual. It is one thing to "fool" the system into allowing more boost pressure, but unless the other...

    Oil Catch Can or No?

I prefer not to mess with catch cans for several reasons. First, Kia warranties this engine for 10 yrs/100,000 miles. If they know the engine will survive the longest powertrain warranty in the industry with their maintenance schedule, that should suggest that the catch can is not needed under...

    Larger wheels & tires

As closely engineered as the Stinger seems to be (good video on YouTube about the engineering considerations and compromises), it would be a bit risky to change the outer circumference of the tire/wheels in that front wheel well due to the ventilation and aerodynamics at that location. Might...

    RaceChip USA Kia Stinger Tuning

Most "legitimate" car reviewers will use standardized conditions for testing. I'd trust C&D, RT, Edmonds, Motor Trend and other long time testers, especially when they have been around for decades. 4.7 seems a touch conservative, but that's respectable and a way for Kia to CYA and make sure...

What do you use to wash your Kia Stinger?

I have never had access to the expensive "coatings," but I've never had a car in a carwash, either. Spray washes do not remove all of the very fine grime from even waxed surfaces, and they seldom if ever do a good job on the wheels/tires. In recent years I have used Black Magic silicone "wax"...

What kind of polish and wax products do you guys you on your car?

Ask twenty people and you will get 20 answers. I'm a chemist, so you would think I would have a clue which is better, but all this is proprietary formula stuff and reviews are highly subjective. Silicone "waxes" (not really wax) are quicker and easier to apply and tend to last longer. I used...

How loud do you want your Kia Stinger exhaust to be?

I agree with stinger1168 on the highway noise. Leave the exhaust volume to the street racers. I'm a long distance driver (it was designed as a Gran Turismo, after all) and trying to listen to a fairly decent sound system over the drone of exhaust is self-defeating. You can't have it both...

Thoughts on these Dropstars wheels on the Stinger?

I'm not a fan of the current fad for black wheels. They remind me of the cheapo wheels and tires on police cars that have long-ago lost their hub caps. The best way to show off a car that is clean is to have clean wheels, and black does not show cleanliness. Yeah, I'm an old codger and I...
